Another low oil pressure thread - HELP Have an LS6 that normally run 35 - 40+psi under load (bit less when properly warm). But the other nite at a meet ran over something in carpark - big grounding underneath (this may just be coincidence - as nothing broken of scrapped when checked underneath).
On short drive home noticed that Oil Pressure was fine under load but it it cam back to idle it was dropping right of the gauge (only a few miles home).
Worried - like I said hacked it up the following day checked undeneath - looked fine - no leaks or split filter / pan.
Changed the oil and filter. Started it up. Fine on initial start up and after a few min normal pressure under 2 - 3 k load. But if lift of and let revs drop right back to the 800rpm idle the pressure drops right off.
Going to get a new sensor today - but think the reading are right.
Does this sound like a strip down or maybe pump related?
