Default Couple of newb questions

When you mill your heads, what exactly does this mean? And also, LS6 heads have smaller cumbustion chambers, therefore raising the compression right?

Look at a picture of a cylinder head and look at the surface of the head that goes against the block. This surface of the head is what determines the size of the combustion chamber. Milling the head means cutting a layer of metal off the head to bring the head closer to the block, thus decreasing the size of the combustion chamber, thus raising compression.

I don't know how the LS6 combustion chambers compare to regular LS1 heads, but 5.3L truck heads have a smaller combustion chamber than LS1 heads do, so therefore installing them in an LS1 engine automatically raises compression without having to mill the heads. Milling a 5.3L head will also increase compression too, but you can get higher compression numbers without bringing the valves too close to the piston faces.
