Default 427 our of ls1 block??

is there a kit or something besides stroking a ls1 block to make it into a 427?? im purchasing a 427 but some guy i raced the other week was telling me how he is turning his into a 427 from the stock block. he isint my bud or anything but i do see him when we go out to race, and i know he doesnt know too much about the fbods, so i was just looking for some info to correct to phucker. oh, and he was just saying its a "kit" with nothing needed to do to the block.

Not possible. You CAN use your stock block (not always recommended), but it takes a lot of money to get it where it needs to be. The bore on a standard 427 is a 4.125, the stock sleeves on an ls1 are not able to go anywhere near that. I think the max bore on a ls1 block is a 3.905. If you can do math, you need over another tenth of sleeve there! Thats a LOT.

You either need to get your / a new MID sleeved ls1 block, ($3200-3500) or you can get one of the new lsx blocks for about $1900. Either way, you need to spend the $$.

Give Steve a call at Race Engine Develmpment if your serious about doing it, he's pretty much the man when it comes to sleeved blocks.

You can re-sleeve an LS1 block.

Can not be done without sleeving the block. As said that's roughly $3500 on a LS-1 block.
