Default Info and advice appreciated on the LPE GT2-3 cam

I posted this on another ls1 forum but...

i have an '01 Z06 and am 'toying' with the idea of a cam only upgrade.

i wanted to get power up to at least '02 spec but if i'm going thru the cost, i figured why not go with something a little hotter than the '02 cam specs but i still like the idea of a 'stock sounding cam' and if possible, keeping the factory idle where it is and maybe avoid tuning if i make it a DIY project.

I'm not looking to break hp records... but would like to eventually get to low to mid 400rwhp range which i feel is ideal for street use.

My two choices in my short time researching are the LPE GT2-3 cam and the CompCam XR265HR grind. Here are the specs along with the '02 LS6 specs for comparison:

02 LS6 Cam: 204/218 .551/.547 117.5 LSA

CompCam: 212/218 .558/.563 115 LSA

LPE GT2-3 Cam: 207/220 .573/.580 118.5 LSA

Has anyone heard info on the CompCam and any opinions on characteristic differences between the Comp and the LPE?

Which will have better low end? mid range? high end?
Which will have better idle?

If I do this mod then I would do other mods in the future in stages as budget will allow and that would include mild porting of the heads.

I'm not really that knowledgable about cams so any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Don
