ASP and double chain, spacing problem?!?!
hey there,
you guys may wanna look at this as a ref.
https://ls1tech.com/threads/showflat...amp;PHPSESSID=
ok, we pulled the pulley, took off the ls6 oil pump and it was hitting the pulley and screwed both of them, the oil pump was burned.
what we did is we shaved some from the pulley and we ported my stock oil pump and we installed everything back on, the O-ring was fine btw.
last night we started the engine and the same prolem came up, low oil pressure after it got warm WTF after a while the mechanic was revin it a bit and it shut off for some reason! we tried to started again and it wouldn't. guys please help me I am in trouble. I wanna get my car back in the road.
what should I do... the mechanic said something about the crank and/or the cam bearings?!!??! is that something to consider?!!
I am really pissed off cuz last night I was ready to go get
my car but after what happened I was really disappointed!
any help would be really appreciated.

Re: ASP and double chain, spacing problem?!?!
Just a few questions:
This all started after you installed a new cam and oil pump?
Did you use any kind of assembly lube while reinstalling the cam?
(assembly lube has been known to clog up the oil pumps on some LS1s....)
Did you clean off the new cam really good before installing is?
(some cams have tons of metal shaving on the inside since they are hollow)
Were you careful removing and installing the cams?
(did you force the cam in any way, maybe damaging the bearings?)
Good luck...
Tommy

Re: ASP and double chain, spacing problem?!?!
this happened after installing a cam, oil pump and a double chan rollmaster.
I haven't used any kind of lube, just a regular engine oil.
this was done by a professional mechanic at a shop and he's well known in this country.
if you have any other questions that would help in figuring out the problem please let me know.

You say the mechanic revved it a few times when he knew the oil pressure was low ? Sounds like he may have fried a Main or Cam Bearing then. You may have to tear down the motor completley to see what is wrong. <font color="red">AND THE MECHANIC SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE IF THIS IS THE CASE! <!--color--></font>
Sorry to hear this my friend .

Re: ASP and double chain, spacing problem?!?!
he said the car is gonna run again and he's responsible!
the thing is it's gonna take sometime but what can I do
I just came from the shop and he started to work on it. he tried to start it and a white smoke came from the exhaust
well, he promissed to fix it so we'll see......

Sorry to hear you will be without it for a while again. But at least your mechanic is stepping up and making it right.
Good luck.
