Default Lifter help ASAP PLEASE

Well Im swapping my cam and am insterting the 5/16th metal rod and Im spinning the cam back and fourth, but it sounds like the lifters arent seating up. Can I insert the rod as Im spinning the cam and it will hold them up? I really cant afford to let one fall.

Please help ASAP.

Trying to finish tonight.

Also, the rods I cut are 23 inches long, but they are JUSt to long to not clear that black shroud in front of where the AC condensor is. How much should I cut off of them?

Ok, well I got that part done and Ive been working on the timing. I have it to what looks like to me and my friend the dots are aligned. How much can timing be off? Like, to the eye it looks aligned. Is there like a PRECISE degree? Should I be fine if the two dots appear to be lined up.

Best thing to do is degree the cam and measure the lift at the lifter.

I like your idea with the rods. I'm think about that when I do my cam. How did you finaly get it slide in and what was the final length?

I think the final length was 22" and I just got pissed off and undid the plastic shroud (then put it back of course)
