Default Hotcam valvespring choices

Would there be a negative effect if I ran PRC/Patriot dual springs with the hotcam? I plan on a custom cam, but I have the availability to run a hotcam for nothing, and I don't care what most say, they make good power. I ran 12.50's in my first 99 Z with no longtubes, ls6 intake, or ported throttle body. I just don't want to install valvesprings twice unless these would be too stiff or whatever.

Not at all, the guy that did my tuning for my hotcam setup said he could have raised my shift point, to about 6700 if I had different springs, I got Ls6 on mine.
I made 393hp yesterday.

Back in 2000, I just used the HPP3 and shifted at 6500-6600. I had the HC kit then. I may still just put some good springs in. I wonder if that would hurt the performance of the stock cam until I put a real one in. I'd be curious to hear your track times in cooler weather.

PAC-1518s may make a little more power with Ti. retainers because of the lower mass.

Patriot Dual with their Ti . retainer weights 104.80 grams. PAC-1518 with Comp-772 Ti. retainer weighs 80.2 grams.

Here is the cliffnotes version in chronological order.

- PAC no longer makes Comp Springs.
- Comp has problems with new suppliers and springs start breaking.
- PAC starts selling the reliable springs it used to make for comp but under its own name/part numbers.
- PAC comes out with the next evolution of the 918 (now PAC-1218). Called the PAC-1518 which has been nitrided, nano-peened, and polished giving it more lift capability.
- Redlines sends me a PM asking where to get the best deal on PAC-1518

Oh and I take that back about needing The comp Ti retainers with the PAC-1518. The steel 774 retainer only weighs 6 more grams. So even with the steel it was only 86.1 grams.

No definitely won't hurt, but is six grams worth 200 bucks more for the Ti. That's up to you. At this level I don't think so. If you were turning 8000+ RPM... yes
