Default New Edelbrock Affordable Heads

In the new GM HighTechPerformance magazine Edelbrock advertises a new "affordable" cathedral head that has 214cc intake runners, CNC'd chambers, and CNC'd port entry. Does anyone know what the pricing will be on these?

RPM Xtreme LS Series Head
Our new RPM Xtreme cylinder heads give you the best combination of as-cast port design and custom CNC technology. Through dedicated engineering and rigorous testing, Edelbrock engineers have designed a new line of cylinder heads called RPM Xtreme. These heads blend the affordability of as-cast ports with custom CNC porting in the critical areas (combustion chambers, intake entry, exhaust exit and intake/exhaust bowls) for improved air flow and overall performance. This proven combination provides you with a powerful cylinder head at a lower cost than a typical fully CNC’d head.
Direct replacement for 1997 and later GEN III and GEN IV engines, including 4.8L, 5.3L, 5.7L and 6.0L V8s
Tested on a Z06 Corvette LS1 engine, these heads made 488 hp @ 6500 rpm and 432 ft./lbs. of torque @ 5000 rpm with just a head and cam change— no re-programming!
5/8" thick deck can be machined for additional compression if desired
214cc intake ports flow 286 cfm @ .600" lift
80cc exhaust ports flow 215 cfm @ .650" lift w/o pipe
Stainless steel 2.02" intake and 1.57" exhaust valves
Performance gains comparable to competitors’ fully CNC’d heads, giving you performance at an affordable price!

PERFORMER RPM LS SEMI-CNC HEADS FOR GEN III/IV ENGINES
Chamber Size Intake Port Size Valve Sizes (in/ex) Bare (single) Complete (single)

It would be nice if they showed a more complete flow chart.

The price is hardly affordable. Look here:

http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...0002_887835_-1

I can buy SLP's better flowing L92 head and intake kit for the same price!

Looks like each since the quantity is one, if that's the case, they've fallen and hit their head. Those flow numbers aren't going to sell them either.

Keep in mind the test shows crank power NOT RWHP and they don't mention the size of the cam they slid in there.

$1012.00 may be for TWO heads. If so...they have to be made in Mexico, China, etc.

Here's flow numbers:http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_...l-rpm_xt.shtml

its NOT for 2 heads... read the description in the jegs.. it says "HEAD".. not HEADS.. its for 1... you think Edelcrock is going to sell 1 head for $500 ahahhahhahahahha right... i think their target was AFR.. considering AFR heads are $2300.. they figured their heads were good enough to keep up with AFR.. and priced them $200 less.... pfff.. come on..

They will still sell a metric **** ton of them because their name is Edelbrock.

I bet they do OK though. You can't judge a bok by it's cover.

Not sure how these differ from the ones they had previously introduced other than it sounds like they are no longer a full CNC (no Lingenfelter???) and are as cast. That being the case, how can they compete with Dart that are several hundred dollars cheaper and have shown themselves to be a pretty good out of the box as cast head? Am I missing something?

Oh well, my next set of heads are already selected

Edelbrock still has the Lingenfelter fully CNC ported heads. These are the same casting but only have CNC work in the combustion chamber, intake and exhaust bowls, and are port matched, whereas the Lingenfelter ones are fully CNC ported. These RPM xtreme heads come with valve springs and retainers and stainless intake and exhaust valves. I was going to give these head a try but at WD, they are still 780 a piece. The power they are advertising with these heads were with a Lingenfelter camshaft.. i believe it was the LS1-GT11 215 / 231 .631" / .644"
