Default Oil Weight for Head and cam car?

I'm trying to find out the correct oil weight for my head and cam car with a ported oil pump??? Any suggestions would be helpful!

hey stonabones trick flow told me 20w50 in head/cam car seems high ?

I dont think you need to run anything different. A quality Xw30 weight oil or possibly Xw40. I personally run GC 0w30 when I can.

I was running the GC 0W-30 but since its not available around here any more I switched back to Amsoil 5W-30. The lower viscosity at startup with the Amsoil quieted down my Morel lifters as a bonus. They always ticked on first start with the GC which is a higher viscosity at normal temps. Think it was just too thick for the lifters.

5-30 here.that weight i used regardless,i used that in my stock motor, h/c and now in my 408.
