Z MAX additive BITES the dust
I've just received a post card in the mail from Z-MAX (soaks into metal!) oil additive. I was one of the stiffs...uh, people who tried this stuff. Fortunately, it never went into my automobile, only into the lawnmower! As reported on a previous thread in INTERNAL ENGINE, on "Oil Additives", my lawnmower began to make a weird metallic sound. Yeah, it soaks into metal and displaces any lubricant, dagnabbit!!!!
Z-MAX lost a 1 million dollar settlement and is now prohibited from making unsubstantiated claims like, "increases mileage, soaks into metal, less friction, etc".
The settlement also, THAT'S RIGHT, excludes Z-MAX from guilt!
On a humorous note, the backside of the return postcard asks one to select the method of settlement,"check or credit card". If you'd selected the credit card payment, they then ask you to print your credit card number on the back for all to see!!!
