Fire came from the throttle body!!!
I've just killed my 98 v6 camaro with nitrous. I had a 75 shot of nitrous hooked up to a pretty much stock motor. It looks like fire came out the throttle body and it torched my air filter. There's nothing left of the air filter, it's no where to be found. So I pull over and the car is still running but its running extremly rough.......barely running at all. There is also a knocking noise that sounds like its coming from the bottom of the motor. Do you think this motor is worth looking at and trying to fix or should I just buy another motor. 3.8L shouldn't be hard to find.....98-02 3.8 should work, right?? Also the motor had 180k. Now I'm driving my 02 Z28 everyday

Too much timing, not enough fuel. I would guess you detonated and spun a bearing or bent a rod or both. Valve float comes to mind as the fuel charge backfired into the intake and roasted the air filter. You are probably right about needing a new motor. That sucks man.
