Default Good cam for TEA 1.5 5.3?

Ok I want more power. I have a cam I was going to get repolished(232/236 .595/.602 114LSA) and put in. But I just did some searches on it and found some people who went with a similiar cam with TEA 1.5 5.3 heads and werent happy with the results.

My current cam is a 222/222 581 114+2 cam and am making 398hp/410 torque.

Would I make more power out of a different cam than the one Im about ot get repolished? like 230/230? 232/232?

Whats the most power I can see from these heads?

will that cam you about to get sound mean, but if you are on that spec of cam why dont you cut the hassle and get G5X3 its one of the powerfull cams on the market and slightly bigger than the one above 234-244 600-610 or if you are not sure get the G5x2 232-240 595-608 114-112 . these are prove cams and i had an experince with it , i had before the TR224 and i saw the awsme power when i went to G5x3 . try to search more good luck

As a general rule the 5.3 head cannot run more than about 228@.050" on the intake valve without flycutting pistons. If you have unmodified pistons and don't want to flycut I would recommend something like the trickflow stage 3 228/230 585 585-112 that will give you a noticeable power improvement. We have had numerous customers make power in the mid 400 range with those heads and morethan a few run in the 10's N/A.

The cam listed above is a great cam but degree it with 4* advance or a really great cam with TEA heads is the MTI X1 and the tr230 but I am sure you already heard that. This is what I was originally gonna go with when I saw TEA heads for a great price. Stellar combo, gobs of power under the curve.

Yup, I was actually gonna use you as an example. When TEA heads come up I think of this car. I thought you were in the 10's N/A but didn't want to put my foot in my mouth. Awesome combo, so many people think that you need a big as cam.

Not trying to hijack, but I have a question. If you have to flycut with a 228 or bigger for just the stage 1.5 head, then how will a 2.5 5.3 Head run with an FMS F11 Cam? Without fly cutting.
