Default dirty intake

Hi guys, just a quick one, i have just taken the intake off my ls1 to have it painted and notice that the intakes in the head were oily/fuely (dirty) is this normall or should they be clean? also what can i clean them out with?

Its normal. Get a catch can setup to reduce the blow by. You could clean it with some carb cleaner but it wont make a bit of difference. JMO

If you want run a catch can then seafoam the engine! That should clean it up. But its normal nothing to worry about!

If you are going to clean it use brake cleaner, carb cleaner leaves an oily residue and may discolor the plastic (it did on mine)
