I've ran Mobil Delvac 1300S 15W-40 in mine for a few years now. I used to run Mobil 1 10W-30 and Schaeffer 10W-30 Synthetic. I've had oil analysis performed 8 times on the different oils and the 15W-40 had better wear numbers and a stronger additive package as it's a dual rated HD Diesel and Gas oil. I would not use it in the winter or temps below freezing.

Ive used M1 15w-50 before. I have the analysis around here somewhere. It actually did pretty good in the 105 degree summer heat here in texas.

Why do you want to use 15W-40? Why not follow GM's recommendation?

M1 15-w50 with 3qt accu-sump and oil cooler on LS6.

Then again all my car does is 3000 to redline, road courses and racing.

Accu-sump to prelube the block and too keep oil pressure up in high speed high G sweeping corners.

Get my oil tested every change, which I do about every 500 miles or two race weekends.

No problems, except in Feb then the it takes too long to heat up.

In Aug on 100 degree days, 130 degrees on the track, constant 3000 to 6570 3-4 times every 2 min for 30 min at a time, oil stays right at 250*

No way I would do this with any 30wt oil.

I run Valvoline VR1 racing oil in all my cars(15w-40). The guys that built my 496 stroker for my 69 Chevelle recommended I use it, since then I run it in everything.....99 Camaro,69 Chevelle, and 07 Kawasaki ZX10r. Never drive these cars/bike in real cold weather tho.

oil temps run around 25* higher than coolant temp hot. so what real differece does the
outside temp make? other than running thick oil on a cold start.
15w40s for diesels. let the barb-b-que begin.

the synthetic Rotella works very well for road racing. there are a lot of cleaning agents in there that keep it clean.
