Oil support ring drama
I have a set of Diamond pistons 3.905 bore for my new engine but the oil support ring is too thick, when i fit the support ring the oil control ring will not fit its just too tight of fit. I have the dimple located in the pin cut out etc, but it just makes getting the rest of the oil ring in impossible.
has anyone else had this problem? what can I do to solve it, is it necessary to run the support ring?

You need to verify you have the right ring width for the piston. You must use the ring rail support. Mearure the piston groove and the thickness of the rail support and post it on here.

Sometimes, there will be a burr where the pin bore intersects with the oil ringland. If there is a burr there it can make fitment tight. Take a sharp razor blade and scrap along the floor of the ringland where the pin bore intersects.
If you still have problems, you could measure the thickness of the rings or double check the part numbers to make sure it correspponds with the pistons.
