Re: best LS6 heads regardless of price?
I have not been very impressed with the flow numbers on the MTI heads.
I hear good things about GTP but I hear they are inconsistent.

GTP.... but you can't go wrong with MTI or Cartek.. i prefer GTP because he has been consistent and proven as a few of the other vendors as well i am a Texan... and Craig has like 10 kids to feed... Look at my sig below both cars have GTP heads.. and when i get serious about the LT4 car again it will crack close to 500rwhp NA.. which has a set of heads very similar to Chris Sikora's monster. keep in mind heads are NOT about flow bench numbers... anyone can make a head flow on their bench.. but it is about the head being built for your application.. street, race, big cube etc... the flow VELOCITY is what makes power on the street not huge ports flowing massive numbers.. that will hinder you not help. you need to keep the port velocity high on a street motor to fill the cylinders down low when it is not screaming at 7000+ RPM's.. also if your going to force feed the engine you don't need as much cylinder head.. hope this helps you out.

Absolute Speed 320cfm at .600 on mine (was 322 at .600 until the lower lift #'s were brought up a little)..... guaranteed better price than any of the others listed as well. Secondary though, I'd go GTP probably.

Who cares what the heads flow at .600 if the valve spends less than 5% of the time at that lift? From what I have seen FMS's LS6 heads outflow MTIs at all lifts, ive got some flow sheets at my house if you want to check them out Kumar.

A couple of questions on some of these flow numbers folks are posting. Are these Stage III heads for stroker motors? How big are the intake runners? What do the low and mid-lift numbers look like? Instead of just posting the .600 can you post all the info on the heads.
I know folks think they are pricey, but i have been impressed with the Stage I CNC heads out of Lingenfelter. Their low and mid lift numbers are some of the best I have seen. For $1595 they aren't that bad.

Honestly, I think you should buy LS6 heads from one of the vendors mentioned so far here that you spend your other money with. GTP/MTI/Absolute Speed/Cartek all make great velocity and flow. Some may flow slightly less but make better velocity. The power #s between these folks will be way in the noise compared to other mods and tuning, cams, etc. Heads are a way to spend money with a vendor that you would like to get support and help from down the road. If there is a vendor that you know you are going to call alot or ask alot of favors, and they make great heads, I personally would get me LS6 heads done from them.
My LS6 castings were ported by MTI resulting in some great numbers (~305/230 peak, great mid-lift).

My FMS LS6 heads flow 316@ .600 and 332 @ .750. They keep flowing up to .800 lift. Not important unless you are running a big solid roller cam or a large cube motor, but bottom line is his heads ROCK.
As for MTIs heads, you can buy a heads/cam package from most of these vendors for what MTI charges for a set of ported heads alone.

Wait 8 months and buy AFR heads for LS1's. THey will have three stages available. Stage 1 cahmber is only 3cc's larger than stock but flow 30% more air. Think of all that velocity and torque.
