Unhappy move dowel pin to new camshaft

search is down for maintenance........

ok, tekkies, I'm up to my elbows in this one, and.........

how do you move the dowel pin to the new camshaft??

I haven't tried to pull it out with vise grips, or anything else destructive.. What's the trick here??

No trick, don't do it. I bet it's a Comp cam. We had the same issue, swapped the cam. The pin is case hardened, you will likely damage the pin on removal. Best to either get a new pin and press in or force them to replace the cam.

My comp came with the pin already in it.

I didnt know those pins could be removed. But i have heard of someone doin a swap and the dowel pin somehow came lose and ended up in the oil pan. Good luck.

Send it into comp and they can take care of it.

I seem to remember the pin is metric as well. You may have trouble finding it. I would call Comp and tell them to overnight you a new cam and don't listen to the guys on the tech support line. Most of them don't know their @@@ from a hole in the ground.
