Default cam/head question

I am getting ready to put a TSP Torquer v.2 (232/234, .59?/.59? 114 lsa) in my 02 Vette. I have a set of near new Patriot stage 3 6.0 liter heads taking up space since I decided not to use them on the Camaro. I know this would lower my compression ratio a little but overall, how do you think this combo would do? Car is an A4 with a TCI super street fighter convertor, 3500-3800.

Would make a nice combo if you slap on a supercharger.

Yeah, but how would it do N/A? It's my wife's daily driver. Never going to be a racer.

It would be a dog, sell the 317s, buy a set of stock LS2 heads, pocket the rest. Those would work better.

I agree. We can get you some Stage 2.5 LS6's or 5.3's that will actually bump your compression up a bit, as apposed to killing it like those 317's will. For NA performance you definitely want/need the compression! Let me know if I can help with your setup. I'd be glad to assist!

I dont get it. Why are u guys telling him to get rid of PAtriot Stage 3 6.o heads just to buy stge 2.5 same heads?
why would his car be a dog?? People put Ls6 heads on Ls1 motors all the time, and the ones he has are worked stage 3's!!
If the heads arent milled and would lower his compresion, why not just mill the ones he has?
i am missing something.

And i thought that LS6 heads were superior to 5.3L heads?

He has 6.0L heads. They have the larger combustion chambers (72cc usually), whereas the LS6's have a 64cc and the 5.3L has the 63cc. So by putting the 6.0L head on a stock short-block, you're killing the compression (that's why Predator said it'd be good for a blower setup).

Brain fart. Sorry.

I get what you guys are saying, but I don't think it would be a dog. Compression will drop some but they still flow better than the stock ls1 heads and would, therefor make more power. (320 cfm at .600 vs whatever a stock ls1 head flows) I could just save my money and have these milled down to 64cc rather than buy another set. Johny, we're tracking.

The minute you mill that much you'll run in 2 issues:

1- milling 8cc will require aproximately .040+ mill. You are now running into PTV clearance problems with a cam that size and those valves.
2- As you mill that much, you'll no longer have 320 cfm flow, and bringing big chamber head with big valves that much closer to the piston will cause what we call in tech jargon, "valve shrouding" which reduces flow as well.

Matt (TSP) gave you good advice for ported heads.
