main caps and bearings
I am going to sound stupid hear. I am assembling my motor and I have always put the main bearings in tang to tang or notch to notch. All older small and big block chevys. The ls1 that I am building though seems to be opisitethe thangs are kitty corner from each other 1 and 5 main you can do it either way they are notched to except the bearing on both sides of the cap. however the rest of the caps are machined only one way and if I install them tang to tang the crank is locked up the other way it all seems good. My question is was this block line bored with the caps installed the wrong way or is the ls1 different than the rest? any info will help. Thanks rich

Re: main caps and bearings
ok first of all, if you're asking which side the caps face, the last one in the sequence (#5) will be facing opposite the other 4. if you've got the motor up-side down, (which you should) you should have the cap #'s on the left side of the block, except for the last one which sits on the right side. does that help?
