Default LS2 timing chain damper

I am getting ready to do a cam swap and will be replacing the chain and oil pump while I am at it. In 05 GM put a damper on their motors and GM Performance Parts lists them for high RPM applications. Has anybody used these on a LS1 motor? Any pros or cons?

they are different. i just searched for it. the black ones were used on the LS2 applications and there was a (beige) tan colored one made for the LS1's. the LS2 dampner has a different bolt pattern than the ls1 block pattern. GM discontinued the tan ones and if you can find one there $100+

From what I can tell the older LS1's did not use a damper/tensioner. Can it be installed on an older motor>
