Default What to do? Buy a SB or buy rotating assy?

I'm tryin to build a budget forge 346 setup. I was wondering would it better to get just a assembled short block or can i have someone just replace all the pistons, rods, and keep the crankshaft and of course change all the bearings and bolts? My current shortblock has 42k mi and never has been sprayed and it's in good condition. Thanks

Why rebuild it then if its ok?
You will save money with the re-build if you can find a shop to do all the work at a reasonable rate over there. If you start adding in shipping cost to re-build it here and ship it to you it becomes cost in-effective. Shipping it one way would be bad enough, even with a military discount. Shipping it both ways just wastes money IMO.

yeah i had that in mind also. I contacted one shop so far.(xtreme horsepower) who are sponsors but i haven't heard nothing about their work in the DFW area. Not even here on the forums. In my opinion i think they charge a lil' pricey. I'll keep emailing other shops.

I'd put in a bid but honestly I dont do re-builds. My 408 short block is 4292, so when you do get your price with shipping you've got a good comparison. Callies with Wiseco pistons, ACL race bearings and ARP built by HKE. Very solid engine!
