Default piston location at tdc

ok, so i had a ptv issue with my etp heads milled .040, et said i may have set up the cam wrong, i went dot to dot, at dot to dot the piston should be flat and even with the block or about a quarter inch in, , my cam is a 231/235,615/621, 111+4, i need help, thanks, by the way the exhaust valve is what hits.

On a stock LS1 at TDC the pistons stick up out of the bore about 0.006". It's called the deck height if you want to search on it.

if the crank dot is straight up, the piston should be even with the deck of the block (actually somewhere around .006" out like massls1guysaid).

do you have an adjustable timing chain with several keyways?
