Default MONSTER Katech Cam

I was just digging around on ebay, WTF??? Look at the specs on this.

LSA 114 Duration at .050 268/278 Lift 703/708

Is this for a 8000 RPM 427 or what?

Now that is a Big Cam. Wonder what springs are needed to live 700+ lift

for $125 it won't last long

Hey, next time some asks, "what cam should I get?"...it will be tempting to post a link to that cam.

I am building a dry sump 346 LS1 powered 2400# BMW. Maybe that cam is just what the doctor ordered.

thats what i was thinking, that kind of lift would be pretty harsh on hydrolic lifters.

It is a solid roller, if you read the card it says "valve adjustment .016"". Thats the lash.

Someone buy it just so you can post up a sound clip of it trying to idle!

LSA 114 Duration at .050 268/278 Lift 703/708

With that much lift and duration, wouldn't it be easier to without a cam and just leave the valves open all the time??? Maybe get an auxilary fuel cell and just dump the fule in there???

At least with the 114 LSA, the designer of that cam wanted it to be environmentally friendly!

Well, I bought the damn thing. It won't be making it in my LS1 any time soon, I need to get my car done and out on the road. Maybe next year I'll have the funds to put into heads, intake, rods & pistons. It seems like a waste to have dry sump oiling on a stocker. This should make things more interesting. I'll contact Katech and see what they say about the cam.

Yes, I know. Sometimes I have an adverserial relationship with my car. But hell, at $125.00, I can afford to have the thing sitting on the shelf collecting dust for a while.

I wonder what the original intent of that cam was given the LSA.

Generally something of those duration and lift wouldnt we normally see the LSA around > 110 ?

isnt the lift, gross lift minus valve adjustment so 687/690 lift ?

I think with a C5R block & heads along with a huge supercharger, that cam would fit nicely. 1500 hp?

I was thinking the same thing strife,
If it had of had a 108 or 110 LSA I would've snapped it up for my 434, but a 114 had me in the "not interested" catagory.

Honestly, I was thinking about buying for $125 how could you go wrong? With the 114 LSA, fast ramps, it might idle pretty well. I think this cam could be good in a Big Bore with LS6 heads.

Well, the cam came in the mail. The lobes are almost bigger than the journals
