Default Will this Cam work with a stock 99 heads setup?

I have the option of getting a 224/228 .567/.561 Comp cam and wondering if I can install this without having to change my springs, retainers, rods, etc???

I have a 99 Trans Am and currently 68,000 miles.

Do you think it would work and hold for another year maybe two if I use that cam until I get new heads?

Thanks

Thanks, what I was thinking.

How much trouble is it installing the springs, rods, etc?? I was looking at ls1howto and the cam part seems ok to install however not sure on the springs.

Anyone done it themselves that's not 100% mechinical inclined

many people have done it.... including me and i am not by an means very mechanical, although i felt like a mechanic afterwards

Just dont be in a hurry, take it slow, and have back up parts. thats the best advice i can give you. You should have no problem.

I would not go split, I would do a reverse split or straight. I have the Comp 228/224-.588"/.581"-112, with 918's, comp PR's, and Ti Retainers. My M6 car made 406rwhp/391rwtq with Hooker LT's, ORYP, ASP pulley, ported TB, tuning, through the Corsa Cat-back.

On the flip side, my good friend got the 224/226-.563"/.566-114 XER because he's got the TNT 150
kit. He made 402rwhp/ 398.6 rwtq- that was on a freshened up motor with all the bolt-ons.

I would like to see a 228/228-.588"/.588"-112 installed 2 advanced. I think this would be kickass on stockheads (as long as PVC was ok). I think there's another 6-8rwhp in there.
