Has anyone with an a4 gotten better gas mileage with a cam? I ask this because i have heard some m6's have gotten better gas mileage with a cam.

The A4's would then also at cruising speeds but unfortunately the A4 would eat up some of that benefit becasue they will get worse fuel mileage on take off.

The stall most people put in to accompany a cam costs a4 guys a lot of mpg's. I just ran an entire tank on the hiway and got right at 21mpg. I got 25 hiway before mods in sig.

im not a tuner so this is just my 2 cents, when you add mods to get the most hp you usually tune it . which really gives it more gas hence less milage. i kinda felt i gained maybe 1 mile per gall when i added headers/ catback. when i first got the car i got between 22-24 mpg. now i get 20.5 mpg after mods and tune. i dont believe anybody gets 30 mpg like some jokers claim on this board.

Larger then stock cams will always decrease MPGs, regardless of transmission. Aftermarket cams will allow more air to enter the engine, therefore requiring more fuel to be added. They may get 30 mpg, but it is because of how they drive and the gear ratios, not the cam.

Agreed. To think a larger cam could ever increase mpg is ridiculous. Tuning by itself can increase mpg, and some guys have tuned a cammed car and acheived close to stock (untuned) mpg
