Default re grinding a ls1 cam

can u use a stock ls1 cam to get 235/242 thinking 620 lift like a 110 lsa??

yes its possible, I reground my stocker and sold it--with specs similar to that I might add. you just need to find a good place that can do it-heres who did mine

id never have a cam reground why not just spend the money and have one custom ground with the lobes and all you want

it may work out fine but to me its being kinda cheap.. to me its like buying an ebay cam or a generic cold air kit where nothing really fits quite right. valvetrain is something id always buy new and unmodified

do they re-harden the lobes afterwards,probably not.I would not trust it with the valve springs today and higher seat pressures.Its just more pressure on a cam that is reground and probably not up to the task,especially for 40 bucks.Its your engine and you can do what you want,but i wouldnt trust it

The difference is in the lobe design.. Do you really think a GM lobe will make the same power as a Comp XE/XER/XFI lobe?

i dont care.. its for my buddys ls1 sand rail.. i was just wondering if it could be done..if not ill get it custom grinded for 180

how can they increase the lift? seems like they would have to add more material?

Nope, you remove material... Take metal away at the base it makes it taller to the top..... You will need to get longer PR depending on how much you take away IIRC.
