Ls7 mls head gaskets on my afr 225 408
#3
I am forced induction if you check my sig..big forced induction.I am going with arp head studs but doubt will ever go past 15psi boost mabye even 12psi.
I have used cometic on my dsm cars but they can be fussy sometimes for head and block prep. This is a redone engine but no idea if they did anythign to the block surface and the afr 225s are brand new also don't know if have to use any special prep on them to run cometics.I just thought the ls7 were maybe just install and run nothing fancy for head or block prep? I was thinking using some copper spray anyway don't think it will hurt. I used it on my cometic dsm build and it seemed fine although they recommended putting them on dry.

Ahhh, my error. You can pretty much count on the AFR's to be straight if new...but check the block deck (a good quality large file can be draw-filed over the deck with the dowl pins removed and as long as you hold it even (so it dosent bend or bow) it will show you every high & low spot and also does a good job of cleaning up the deck. I would still lean toward the cometics....after draw-filing (pulling it sideways across the surface) clean both surfaces good with brake clean/alky/or laquer thinner and put the cometics on dry. Don't get me wrong, the GM MLS gaskets are pretty dang good, but with that boost I would go safe w/the cometics.
