Coolant seeping from water pump bolts

Has anyone had coolant seep around the head of the water pump bolts? If so how did you stop it? I didn't think the holes went into the water jacket, or do they?

If coolant is coming from the bolt hole, take it out and put some sealer on the bolt threads.

i have pulled the bottom bolts to drain the block so yes,and i thought the stock bolts had thread sealant on them

That is weird. The bolts go through the gaskets to seal them up. I re used pump bolts with no sealer what so ever. it may be the gaskets them alone.

I AGREE I HAVE REUSED MY GASKETS FOR twelve pump removals and never a problem

I would just replace the gaskets. Its really easy, and will most likely solve the problem.. Gaskets get old after a while. When i tore down my wife's 00 WS.6, the water pump gaskets just about fell apart.
