Default LS3 Intake Cover...use or not?

I have a LS3 intake that I will be painting body color. Should you use the intake cover or discard it? Without it will it disapate heat better? Is the cover just for looks? Thanks!

I believe the cover provides some acoustic dampening. I ditched mine almost immediately as I like to hear the engine noises. If I don't want to hear them, I turn up the stereo. It might dissipate heat a little better without it but the plastic they are made from doesn't retain a lot of heat anyway.

Hang on to it. It pops on and off easily. You may like it today but hate it tomorrow...and like it again Monday.

If your painting it you might as well use it.

As blake b said, it might help with engine noise. Try it without and then with, maybe you'll prefer one over the other.

Some people say that it rattles and makes noise. I would leave it off.
