Default Another L76/L92/LQ4 build...

I search through this forum and found some answers to some question I had. The stickies helped as well.

This will be a stock LQ4 w/ unported L92 heads and a L76 intake in a '01 WS6.
Only two questions:

1) What cam (like you didn't see that one coming, lol). I read a few suggestions: CC XR281HR, LG G6X3, and a 218/224 .605"/.601" 112+0 xfi lobes. What do you recommend?

2) With the 70cc chambers of the L92 heads, how much should the heads be milled taking into account the large valves, a possible high lift cam, and the fact that the LQ4 has dished pistons. I want a compression ratio that will work well with the cam (yet to be determined) and still run well on 91 octane.

I had to take .030 off mine and I am running .045 gaskets to get 10.8:1
Check how far above the deck you pistons are, that will help with the equation.

You will get at least a dozen answers on the cam question. I paid for a recommendation from PatrickG for a different one for my car. I am not sure if I will do it because the gain isn't big enough over my current cam from what I can tell. But if I was just starting to build one, I would be all over it.

227/235 .617”/.621” 112LSA +2 advance
Comp LSL/LSL lobes
13017R/13019R HR112LSA +2 advance (110 installed intake centerline)

Attached is a excel file I found on here that will help you with the CR.

Thanks for the info. Those are the cam specs he spec'd out? If so thank you very much. For what mods? You wouldn't happen to remember what was the estimated horsepower? Powerband? Peak? Thanks again man.

Mods are in my sig. The only time I went to the dyno with mine, I had a valve spring issue so my numbers came out low, only 390 rwhp. I fixed the issue but I haven't been back on the dyno. According to my Performance Trends software, Patricks cam peaked 10 rwhp higher than mine on the software but the power under the curve improved. I figure I paid for the specs, if I am not going to use it someone else may as well use it.

I ran the 1/4 times in my sig with a 3700 lb car and no traction on street tires plus I was at 96 in the 1/8 so the bad dyno run doesn't tell the whole store on the power.
