'01 Rods and piston threshold
I have an auto car that will be having a PT4400 going into it. I have Patriot Stage 2 heads (I think). and a small 22x/22x cam. Anyways..the motor made 406rwhp through a 6 speed on a dyno.
What im wondering is how much the 01 rods and pistons will hold up to safely RPMs wise. Im already going to get the ARP rod bolts for it..or K-Techs. I am thinking 6700 should be safe.
What are your opions?
My car. After the installation of parts.
Performabuilt Stage 2 4L60E
Yank PT4400 2.5-STR
Patriot Stage 2 heads. 59cc 2.08/1.60
Gold valve springs
hardened pushrods
unknown cam + made 400rwhp through 6 speed

Stock pistons are questionable and ticking time bombs at high power levels. That is a smaller cam. You have the dyno sheets obviously but doesn't seem like it needs revved much past 6500.

From what I have heard, the stock rods are pretty decent with upgraded rod bolts. However, I would NEVER just throw in new rod bolts without resizing the rods. I've seen firsthand how bad that can distort the bore of a stock GM rod, although those rods went in a nasty turbo motor and are still running, as far as I know...

So should I be too concerned about getting forged internals? Im only planning on pushing about 450 to the wheels or less once I get my intake for the car...should I be concerned about the stock pistons and rods?
