Default Torque Hone and Head Gasket change questions

I just received my motor back from the builder. The block was torque honed with a .040 gasket. The pistons are .010 in the hole so that reduced my CR and leaves me with a .050 quench. From what I am reading here that is far from optimum. My thoughts are to order a custom gasket from cometic in the .025 - .030 range to raise the CR and lower the quench. Should I worry about distorting the bore with the thinner gasket. I really want to get this motor back in the car and stop wrenching for a while. What is the worst of the two evils?

Option A

use the .040 gasket giving me a quench of .050 and a CR of 10.8

or

Option B

use a ~.025 gasket giving me a quench of .035 and a CR of 11.2 and possibly distorting the bore.

Thanks

Rob

I have the same engine as you do but my pistons are .007 out of the holes. I would go with option B. I don't believe that the small difference in the gasket will distort the bore.

Yes just use the thinner gasket.
