it means it has a nice motor. does it run?
long block and short block are the same thing; just ways to describe different levels of assembly. Generally, a short block is just a block with the rotating assembly (crankshaft, connecting rods, and pistons). A long block is a short block with heads, oil pan, and usually water pump. It gots its name from the water pump making the assembly "longer" than a block without.

An engine like that today woud cost about $8,000-$9,000 to build nicely.
Short block means block, crank, rods, pistons and bearings. Long block means a complete engine with cam, heads, intake and TB ready to install in the car.

yea its a 408, its quick, its untuned (well i am working on the tune) it is 430/490 so far, I am trying to get all the info for Mike at vengence racing, he will be tuning it in the next 2 weeks. I know the heads are the weak point, but with the nitrous, I am satified. but as far as the cam, is that too mild of a cam? It doesnt have a lumpy lumpy sound, more like an exotic sport car sound.
