Default GenIV cam question?

I've never had the cam out of a GenIV yet even with as many as I've worked on, and a search returned nothing of use. Question: Do they still use the same cam core as the GenIII (i.e., do they have the reluctor in the back still)? I know they use a front mount high resolution now, but if the rear one is still there on the GenIV I was wanting to put an LS7 cam in my LQ4. Can I do it?

GEN IV cams don't have the reluctor on the rear...They use the front mounted cam sensor...To put a GEN IV cam into a GEN III you need to change the front timing cover and timing chain sprocket...
