Default blew out valve cover gasket on new motor

Or maybe sucked in?

Been having little issues on my new motor that I have been working. Tonight I went to the track and ran right after I got there (meaning hot). Bogged really bad, went through the gears ok but stayed in it a little too long. Hit the rev limiter, I think it's set for 7,000 and immediately let off. I raced a nissan GTR and figured that he thought he was going to kill me so I wanted to show him that wasn't going to happen.

When I opened the hood oil had come out of the driver's side valve cover. When I started it oil started squirting out, the gasket was sucked in.

What would cause this? It's a 427 NA motor.

Thanks in advance.

Improperly installed, there's not much stress on a valve cover gasket.

So it's unlikely it would be blow by from a valvetrain issue?

It's unlikely if your PCV system is venting pressure. Once you pull the rocker covers off the gaskets has a tendency to pop out of their groove because they swell up. Sometimes you'll get lucky and you can put the cover back on if it hasn't poped out of its' groove. Best to have a spare set of gaskets on hand just in case.
