Default swapped in a new o-ring for the oil pump

and the old o-ring was squashed. I had low oil pressure and decided to check it out.

I replaced the o-ring and the oil pressure still drops under load, but slowly picks back up.

When I started the car up- it made a lot of noise for a few seconds and then quieted down while the valvetrain remained noisy. The car was still on jackstands in front.

How much noise is normal on first start up. Oil pressure at idle is fine, so it wasn't oil starved, I just really didn't like the noise.

Also- is it normal for oil pressure to drop under initial load or is there some kind of inherent difficulty in the o-ring replacement?

I put the o-ring on the pick up and then slid the pump on. Hopefully that is an acceptable method.

you need to make sure it slides all the way into the pump. can be a pain in the *** somtimes, but not impossible.

can I just add another o-ring to force a seal- this really pisses me off because there seems to be no reason the seal doesn't form.
