non LS7 style lifters in my '06 LS2??

non LS7 style lifters in my '06 LS2?? tore into my new project motor, '06 LS2 from GTO, and it has the not fully captured roller lifter. Is this odd? I tore apart an '01 LQ4 the other day that should not have had them and it did...now I tear this apart, which I thought was a sure thing, and it's the old style (from what understand).
am I just off base or what?
