Default Any way to tell a 4.8 from 5.3 on 2007+?

Trying to figure out how to tell which is which in the junkyards, many do not have paint markings and they all have the 243 castings, i assume BDC and measure the piston distance from the top with a spark plug missing is all i can come up with.

That won't work, the 4.8's have a different rod length and piston to make up for the different stroke so their pistons aren't in the hole any crazy amount. If you're going to measure, just measure the piston travel from BDC to TDC. Or, the crank's casting number will be the easiest way to tell...I don't have the list of crank numbers in front of me this moment, but it will not be difficult to reference the number even from a cell phone while you're at the yard!

Yea, i was going to measure the distance of the piston at BDC on this motor and my 6,0 since the 6.0 is the =same stroke as the 5.3.
