Machining Prices
Hope you guys can help me. I have a LSX block I purchased in 2007 when they were first released, And im ready to put this thing together.
First I have read some negative things about the First version of the LSX block and want to make sure I have all bases covered. Is there a thread hear that covers this info?
Also Whats a general average pricing for Bore and Hone to 4.130" inch bore from the stock 3.990" it comes with.
Also, is it true all mating surfaces need to be machined?
Cuz if the first version i have isnt as good as the second I will do a low budget build so I could sell it later then buy the newer one!

I can tell you that my local machine shop machined my block which included boring, deck, linehone, deburr, and clean. It was about 800. It can be a little more or a little less depending on where you go but I think around 1000 is average.
Mine is a second gen but I can't remember all the differences. I know the lifter valley window was enlarged. I believe the cylinder skirts might be longer in the gen II. I am not sure.

Thanks for responding Jasond26!
I have noticed they have changed the part number of the version you have to 19213964 and mine is 19166454. The only difference that I have found as far as specs was the cylinder bores. My block came with 3.990" bores and yours with 3.880" bores.
I know that there is some things that has been discussed on the internet about other differences but i cant find it.
But thanks for the info the machining price will give me a good reference to go on.
