Default Denali Ideas

Thinking about picking up an associates '08 Denali AWD with the 6.2 and 6spd auto. How are they performance wise (felt pretty quick) and what are the mods that wake these trucks up. Familiar with 6.0's in the cars but not the 6.2's in the trucks. Bad *** looking truck though.

It is still basically a 6000lb barge. Considering that most engines respond to similar modifications, and the LS family in particular will respond to similar items. CAI, intake, headers, tunes would do the most without breaking into the engine.

That application is going to have weight as a disadvantage like SSCamaro99_3 pointed out but is a very nice ride that could surprise people if modified. We do offer Air intake kits for GMC’s along with Kooks Long Tube Headers for AWD Denali’s. At this point the Y Pipe from Kooks is still in R&D but should be available soon if you decide to pick up this truck. A good custom tune is a great option but if you’re tech savvy and have a do-it-yourself mentality we recommend picking up HP Tuners. There is a learning curve but as your knowledge grows and your modifications change the tuning program can make fine adjustments to your personal setup.

Had the same truck. Basic tune, intake, exhaust, and I ran 13.90s. My tuner wasn't able to tune it perfect so it still had some left in it. He could only turn torque management down to 8% I think which killed my 60ft. Had he been able to turn it off it would have launched way harder. I was skeptical about the AWD at first not having experience with it but aside from a little extra weight I loved it. And the 6 speed was great on the highway. That 6.2 is a monster. I killed titans, tundras, 6.0s, 5.3 colorados, etc (similar mods of course)

Have you looked at a Procharger kit? That would really wake up the truck and not require a deep dive into the engine so long as you keep boost to a reasonable level. Stock manners for DD plus big power when spun up. Best of both worlds.
