Default Lifter broke on LQ9....what to do?

my 2001 S10 Blazer with a LQ9 6.0 just broke a lifter. Chunks of metal in the oil, loud tapping sound, loose rocker arm. 100% broke lifter. Motor is bone stock, and it broke at 4 grand or so.

Why? How?

And, since I have to change the cam now anyways, its time to cam it. What cam do I run? What lifters?, Pushrods, rockers, timing chain, etc. This is my first LS motor, so color me dumb on these. In the old SBC days you could not DD a 600 lift cam, and it seems thats the DD norm on these LS motors.

Help a brother out here!

I'd pull the engine personally, and take it down to the shortblock at a minimum. Look carefully for any signs of more damage. Maybe even check a few rod/main bearings. Good time to change the rod bolts too. JMO
