Chain tensioner and single bolt cam gear
Well guys , it looks like i am going to dig into the ol LS3 and do an LS2 tensioner instead of the mickey mouse one the LS3 comes with. Anyone have one laying around for cheap?
I am also thinking about advancing my comp cam a couple degrees for better low end grunt. It is a single bolt core, so does anyone know of a upper or lower gear that has some provisions for cam advancement?
Im still on the fence over getting a cam ground for my setup or ditching my single plane Vic Jr for a GMPP dual plane and advancing my cam a couple degrees. All I am looking to do is optimize my setup for how I am going to use it for most of the time. Cruising and a little informal auto crossing, with the rare trip to the dragstrip to blow the soot out of it. it runs good now, but more low end grunt would be handy.

Ok ive been looking at threads on here about the LS2 dampener and the LS3 tensioner and have one more question about the LS2 unit.
Is it OK to run the stock LS3 timing chain WITH the LS2 chain dampener? I was hearing about excessive slack in the chain from this combo, or is that the same slack the LS2 engine has. I guess the question is..Are the LS2 and LS3 chains the same length?
