I changed it about 1000 miles ago. I already drained the oil for the head removal and didnt really notice anything in it, but Ive still got the filter laying on the drain pan, now that you mention it Ill cut into it tomm night and see what I come up with. Im already not too happy with the way the cylinder walls look, so I may go ahead and pull the motor and put some 5 thou over pistons in it along with rods so itll be ready for more (turbo) power down the road On the other hand the TSP 402 stroker setup isnt much more $$ then pistons&rods...

Yeah. Check that filter. I'm upgrading my oil to VR1 10W30 to see if some zinc will quiet my squeaking down at all. If it's an oiled part that's squeaking, then I have some exciting engine work in my future too. I just want to figure out where the noise is coming from at this point. I'm also curious to find out if there's anything in my filter.

I know it's been a while since the last post, but did you ever find out what the cause was? I have a similar issue to the OP.

I have an 05 Yukon 5.3 non AFM but yet you described it to the "T" I'm at a loss for words with this.

I have an 05 Yukon 5.3 that does not have AFM but you described the sound to the T but mine only does while warmed up, never while still cold..

You still might have a bad lifter roller as described by the guy you quoted.

i was idling in my driveway and heard 2 very tiny chirps, shut it down straight away, pulled valley cover, lifter showed abnormal wear on 1000mile motor, luckily caught it early as just have to rebuild lifters and new cam.....so about $1600 instead of $7000+ for full rebuild
Reason i knew what noise it was is coz 8yrs ago i was trying to diagnose same chirp sound, driving it, pulling belts, driving more, try something else n drive some more until found the problem and had to do a full rebuild. So now if i hear anything like a chirp, stop immediately, pull belts and start, if chirp heard still , valley cover off and check lifters

You will not see lifters by removing the valley cover. You need to remove the heads. You're thinking old small block...

Mick has an LSX block. You can get to the lifters through the valley.

Agreed. You can get to them, just can’t get them out.
