Default ???? HEADS For Procharger Build

Which would be a better choice of head for a D1 procharged street car: TEA Ported 317s or TFS220(LS2) or STOCK(Ported) Ls3 heads

Car will be a full weight full interior 02 camaro with built 365 Ls2, Ls9 cam(optional), currently built 4l60e(have 4L80), 12 bolt rear!! Not building an all out drag car, just something strong enough to run tens at full weight and be driven anywhere! I don't race(track or street) much because of my job so max hp is not what im looking for... GO!!!Thanks in advance

Any help is welcome fellas. 215 trickflows will probably kill my budget for the small unforseen last minute parts i may need. But a good choice none the less

I have 317s from a 6.0 i sold a friend that i can send to TEA, an a buddy with tfs 220s that fell on hard times. And for what hes selling the tf's for i could get a set of ls3s an intake about the same price. Plus id have a little cash from selling my fast an fuel rails

TFS are a good choice, if used be sure to disassemble both heads and check them for cracks between valves, then just be sure all valves seal well on their seats and use the correct springs for the cam you are using.

Forget the TFS 215's and get the TFS as cast 220's. The TFS 220's flow great, and on a boosted application, what your're getting the most of out of an aftermarket casting is the thick head deck, which the 220's have.

I bought some BRAND NEW fully assembled LS3 heads here in the classifieds section for $650 shipped. If you're talking performance per dollar/bang for buck you can't beat em, just saying.

Either hand worked LSA heads or as cast TFS or PRC. The ported heads are great but you have a budget and have to pick between structural integrity or flow. It will be hard to get both and be careful with used heads.

That is very true. Been there, done that, and been burned.

With the choice of a D1, assuming you are planning to run 10 lbs or less of boost. At these levels, an OEM head will be fine. Actually, it may last longer than aftermarket due to valve guides. If you plan more than 10 lbs aftermarket might be more durable.

Are you set on the LS9 cam?? You might be leaving a lot of hp on the table here.

Unclear in your signature what you currently own - do you already have the FAST, LS9 cam, TFS 220 etc? If so, put it together. If not, going with an LS3 head, porting by AI, custom cam and LS3 intake will make a killer combo that might not break the bank.

Keep us posted,

Yes i already have the fast 90/90 intake an tb, also have the 317 heads and ls9 cam. Shortblock is built an sitting here also.
D1 is the choice because im really not looking to max it out. The D1 is the reason i asked about head choice because im not looking to go 9's. Truly looking for 10 anything 1/4 times and ability to state hop an visit friends an family.

Not married to the ls9 cam either. I can put it in my friends 2010 camaro an really beat up on the local 5.0s.
Any cam suggestions for a D1 auto car 3.73 gear with a little suspension.

Depends on what heads you end up going with. But regardless, custom is always gonna be the best choice. Me personally, I would sell the LS9 cam, 317's, and F.A.S.T. intake and use that money to buy an LS3 topend and run a custom cam from Martin at Tick Performance. Done!
