Default Questions on timing set crank gears

I have a cloyes that I was going to put on a new stroker build. The problem is because of the two peice bottom gear it really only engages the key by a smal amount. Thefactory one peice of course engages the whole key length. It look as though most of the aftermarket gears are the two peice design. It seems kinda weak. Has anoyone used or had issues with the two pircr design?

The key locates the gears, the balancer press keeps them in place.

Can you post a pic? Might be easier to see what you are talking about, and give you some guidance from there.
