Exclamation LS2 Head selection help.....

Debating over whether to use my L92 heads, get them ported or switch my setup to TFS 220 as casts.
Also which heads is best for 150-200 shot!?

My goal here is get as close to 480rwhp~N/A as possible
Current setup: in a 01 trans am
STOCK LS2
STOCK L92 heads
Super victor intake
FAST 4150 TB
Ls3 42# injectors
BTR stage 4 cam (ground for single plane)
1 7/8 headers
Mezire Elec. Water pump

Drivetrain:
Rossler terminator 2.5 th400
PCT 8inch converter

.... current combo has yet to be ran.

Any thoughts on the difference in power would be appreciated....

Since it hadn't been run yet, I'd run it as is first. Save your money for any bugs that you might have to work out with the fresh combo first.

I think you'll be close to 480whp with the stock L92 heads, even with the unlocked converter. The shorter runners will probably cause peak power to occur higher in the RPM range, so hollow stem LS3 intakes valves might be a good upgrade to consider if you don't have them already.

FbodyFreak,

Myself personally regardless of the fact that I work here, I'd absolutely finish that whole build by having your L92 heads ported. If flow numbers are your thing, 392cfm @ .700" on the intake side on just our Stage 1 LS3 CNC program is what you can expect. The LS3 heads are great from the factory and really open up to full potential with our port program. A GM casting can take the 150-200 shot and keeps trucking.

Our Stage 1 package comes with:

FED .700" springs with titanium retainers
Reuse your stock valves
CNC valve job
CNC port
Logo'd
Hand blended
Surfaced
Assembled
Shipped

$1250. Our turnaround time is 7-10 business days, my last 3 ls heads have been in and out in 3-4 days.

We also have aftermarket castings in stock, brands like Trickflow and Brodix are on the shelf ready to rock. They're not overkill for your build by any means, but if you're looking to save some cash and make excellent power. The LS3 casting CNC'd will definitely do a great job of that.

If you're interested just holler at me. Good luck with your build!

I'd be surprised if you get 480whp from either. Just trying to be honest here.

To achieve those numbers through any automatic will be difficult on a stock bore stock stroke LS2, N/A speaking

It's going to take compression to get you to your goal, and unfortunately it's a tough fence to hurdle without and aftermarket piston with valve reliefs.

I'm an advocate of the TFS heads on smaller CI motors, they make more usable torque and power.

I'm in the middle of an LS2 TFS 220 build currently. Through a 6L80 with a Yank 3600ss I'm guessing 430 both WHP and Torque. The car with untouched 243's and a Fast 102 has made a best of 410/409.

You already have the L92 heads so use them. They have proven to succeed in many builds. Regardless of the way you go invest in lightweight VT components to optimize the power efficiently.
