Default LS7 swap in a C5 vette??

Anyone know how easy it is to swap a LS7 crate motor into a 99 C5 vette??
I saw that GM along with other companys are selling the LS7 crate motors and Im thinking about buying one and dropping it in my C5 vette.
Thanks for any help.

I really think and its just my opinion that the LS2 402 (SPDC) or the upcoming L92 with mildly ported heads (if need be) and l76 intake would be a better way to go...(less expensive and more powerful.)

I've heard guys get into this...with it installed at around 8 to 10 grand.

Depending on options etc....

I think the l92 w/L76 intake is a route I'll take when the time comes...

I think its a 414 cubic inch motor on the l92 version.

Over 500 rwhp too...

The dry sump is probably the biggest problem, other than that it is same as LS2.

I would agree with an LS2 or L92 set up, it is cheaper and alot more power. The L92 comes as a 416-418 cu. And the LS2 402-440 something.

Don't forget the Crank Timing Sensor will need to be changed on the LS7 (58x) to the 24x for his LS1 ECM.

I agree with the other guys that a LS2 Stroker or L92 Stroker with a 24x timing gear on the crank would be easier more powerful and cost less then a bone stock LS7.

A 414 to 418 Longblock L92 stroker should run around $8500 (plus or minus around $500 for extra parts).

Thats a built to your spec's motor.
You pick the cam, the pistons, the heads (ported or not) etc...

The LS7's start in the $12,000 range for 505 Crank hp and will need more time and effort to fit into your 99 C5.

But then again it is your money, get what your heart desires (as making yourself happy is what you are actually after).
