Default LS7 build - with Arao 4 valve heads

Hi All,

I'm new to the GM world - having been learning about the Mopar blocks in my car (a 383 with a 727 gearbox).

As I can't find the package I want with Mopar - i've found that Corvettes have had much higher specified engines for some time.

So i'm looking at a 426cu LS7 build.
The Arao 4 valve heads look brilliant.

Has anybody on the site had experience of these heads??

I'd be very interested to hear how you got on in your build and what your dyno results were.

Or if your ordered a engine built to your specs, who you used, and what experiences you have.

I'm looking to build a fast road engine.
Smooth idle.
Torque of a freight train.
Hp - 650 area, maybe a bit more, maybe a bit less - i'm sure there will be plenty from a 426 with good gas flow and an efficient combustion chamber.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Jonathan

I have just had a 427ci LS7 built for me at Motorsports Technology Inc. in Houston Texas.

It puts down 565rwhp / 504rwtq - that is 642hp / 573lbft @ the crank.

This was using the ported stock LS7 heads and the LS7 intake.

To get these numbers the car doesnt exactly "idle like stock" - there are some milder cammed cars out there with the stock 2 valve heads, but they are all about 30 to 40 hp down. Torque numbers are sometimes a little higher though.

I'm doing a 454ci LSX, I got a price from Russ Arao the other day for $10,000, including valve covers and rockers, and it also has the 6 studs for use with the LSX block.

I think the ETP heads may be better, Arao might be a hassle and I hear theirs some customer service issues.

It would be nice if they deliver what they claim. I'd buy them for sure.

Hi All,

Thanks for your replies.

I have a spec off Russ Arao for a fully built engine at 35k.
4v heads, 11:1 cr, dry sump, injection, dyno tuned.

Might come to a bit more as that's with a 45degree sealing face - and i've specified radius cut valve seats (with a radius sealing face).

It would be interesting to speak to a few owners before jumping in with both feet and ordering. (Especially as i'm in UK - and won't see it until it arrives at my door!!).

I'll see what comes of it.

$35k? I'd rather have an all aluminum Big Block that could stomp that (well over 1000HP on pump gas) for less money. But that's just me.

What are your goals? What vehicle is it going in?

35 k is a lot of cash for the power output-u want-u should **** that in easy without using those 4 v heads=

i am not saying those 4 v heads are good or bad but for 10 k?thats expensive-

u should get a killer ls7 heads or etp or allpro with good+light-valve train+rocker stuff and have heaps of change out of 10 k=

my 2 cents worth-
