Default 3.905" pistons, LS6 block, what crank for stroker

I'll have a 347 LS6 block with Ross 3.905" 4cc relief pistons, 6.125" probe ultralight forged I rods, and ARP bolts. It will come with a polished crank. What crank can I use to make it a stroker? I heard it's a lot of work because of reluctor problems if I went with a LS7 4.0" crank. Also, should this be my intentions if I'm wanting to keep the compression low to eventually go forced induction? I know I'll have to get certain heads & head gaskets suitable for these pistons, but is a larger stroke good for these intentions?

If it's already assembled as a 347, then the pistons were built with a stock 3.622 stroke in mind. In order to make it a stroker, you will need a new crank AND new pistons.

Pistons and crank. Pistons are designed aroundg the stroke you are going to use...383ci LS6 uses a 4" stroke crank with the correct pistons to go with it..Just stick with what you have if your going for forced induction later..347ci is plenty when you add boost on top of it...

I thought I could run a 4" stroke with 3.905" bore pistons & 6.125" rods? According to some sponsors, they sell forged 3.905" bore pistons, a 6.08" rod length, and designate them for a 347. Since my pistons are 3.905" and use 6.125" rods, how come I can't just change the crank to a 4" stroke since the rods are longer for the larger stroke? Or else, I'll just have the pistons & crank pulled from the shortblock and start over.

The piston is designed around a certain stroke by changing the pin placement in the piston. So you can have 2 different piston sets, both 3.905" and 6.125" rods, but one is designed around the stock stroke and the other designed around the 4" stroke. The 4" stroke piston will have the piston pin placement further up in the piston than the stock stroke piston...They are not interchangable...

And rod length has nothing to due with stroke...Its all in the piston design as to what stroke and rod length its designed for...

thanks for that info! I did not know what the pin position did. now I know I'll need different pistons for the larger stroke.
