daily 383 stroker. need cam & heads opinions
I'm building a 383 LS6 stroker with a built shortblock.
I have a set of Katech/CNC ported 241 heads in my 346 LS1 right now. The cam in it is mild, 22x/22x .581 114 LSA comp cam. LS6 intake & bolt-ons. Makes low 400's rwhp & runs low 12's.
Heads question...
How much more power could I make on the 383 with the ported 241 heads... if I go with a bigger cam? Or how much more power & speed could I make by changing heads on the 383? I hope to upgrade intakes to a Fast 90/90. Possibly ported. My exhaust consists of Hooker LT's, catted TSP, & GMMG.
Cam question...
What would your suggestion be for a daily driven 383? I want to make A LOT more power & speed & don't care if I have a rough idle / tight LSA. What lift & degree separation would be best for my setup? I wouldn't mind picking up more power at mid-level RPM's using the same 3.42 gears.

I used to have a Futral F13 230/232 when I first had the motor rebuilt and it was decent. Very good mid range power. I now have a Comp 244/248 and its incredible but it does feel I lost some low end. Up top, however, is another story. Driveability on both has felt about the same. Whats holding me back some is that I have the stock head, just mildly ported.

hmm. I done another search on here and noticed some guys with a 383 heads/cam/intake are only putting about 440-460rwhp. That's not much of a difference than my ol' LS1 puts out now. If I can't be shown that I'm easily capable of 470+rwhp & lots of torque with a 383 stroker, heads/cam/intake and no shot, then I'm probably better off investing my money in something else.

most of the 383 combos are in the 460-470 rw range, they don't pick up alot of hp over a 346 but they pick up quite a bit of tq.if the funds is available the 402/408 route is much easier to eclipse 490-500 rwhp.i guess it depends on how much funds you are wanting to waste.with your heads and a cam like wkmcd said his friend has or similar along with a 90/90 and probably 11:5 scr/8:5-8:7 dcr and you SHOULD be in the 470 + range through an m6. what hurts the 382-384 combos is the small 3.898- 3.910 bore.
